Personal Story (Alan Smith – Founder)
My name is Alan Smith, founder of Pathway Academy, head coach at Majestic Boxing Academy, and the lead coach for the North West Region of England Boxing. I’ve been involved in boxing for over 20 years and have worked with hundreds of young people—helping them develop discipline, confidence, and a sense of purpose.
I’ve dedicated my life to this sport, not just for competition, but for the life lessons it teaches. I also run one of the UK’s largest amateur boxing tournaments, providing a national stage for young talent.
Pathway Academy was born from a deep belief that some young people just need a different path. Especially those with EHCPs or those struggling in school—I wanted to create something structured, supportive,
Our Mission
At Pathway Academy, our mission is to empower young people aged 11–19 through structured education and boxing-based training. We offer a safe, positive space that builds not only fitness, but character, life skills, and self-belief.
Our Core Values
✅ Respect – For yourself, your peers, and your community
✅ Discipline – Instilled through routine, challenge, and coaching
✅ Inclusion – Every young person deserves the chance to grow
✅ Positivity – We focus on solutions, not setbacks
✅ Progress – Measured not just in punches, but in personal growth
Who It's For
Pathway Academy is designed for young people aged 11–19 with EHCPs who are struggling in mainstream education or looking for an alternative. Whether due to behaviour, anxiety, exclusion, or low confidence—we provide a structured two-day-per-week provision that supports both emotional and physical development.
Our students work towards Boxing Awards qualifications and gain valuable experience in fitness, teamwork, and personal achievement. We partner with parents, councils, schools, and youth services to support long-term progress.
